This brings me to my next point. Religion has taught people over the centuries, not to distinguish between good and bad and/or right and wrong, but between sin and virtue, faithful and unfaithful, and between the believers and the non-believers. It reinforces the Us/Them mindset. Why do you think the “unforgivable sin” in every religion is to disbelieve ? ‘Thou hast no other Gods before Me”. To say that is to pre-suppose that there had to be other gods as well, don’t you think ? Otherwise the creator wouldn’t have cared so much to put it there in the first place. Why is it that “Non-belief” is such a huge crime that good and moral human beings must be doomed to eternal hellfire solely based on “non-belief” ? It’s the unforgivable sin in all religions. If there were a creator, and only one, he didn’t have to care so much. We could’ve avoided so much suffering. So many good and moral non-believers could enter the eternal heaven. But why not ? Why is the creator of the heavens and the earth so insecure ? aha but we need more people down over there don’t we ? Perhaps, more scientist, more thinkers, more rational and less gullible human beings burning and suffering for eternity. Do you honestly not notice something wrong here ? I was a believer once. Whenever i came across articles of this sort, I’d just read it and not care what it meant, or not read at all. After all, I knew the truth. Had i asked myself “how do I know, I know the truth and how did I come to this conclusion ? “, I’d have wasted less time praying, and more time thinking, feeling and most importantly, doing. You’re probably sat there saying to yourself “The day will come when the truth will be revealed”, I’m here wishing I was conscious enough to say “I told you, you were wrong”. I don’t believe there is a god. But even if there were a god, you are highly likely to end up in hell. There are so many different religions. There are too many different sects in each one of those religions. All of these religions have absurd laws. The odds are you’ve committed so many of those mini sins. You were born in sin. You will be held responsible for thought crime. In this absurd kingdom of an insecure god, the odds are very much against you. You are just as likely to be wrong as I am. I have my observations, science, reason, evidence, and understandings of human behavior to support my claim. What do you have ? “FAITH” ? Morality does not come from having faith
Religion manipulates human behavior through the power of authority, personal guilt and fear. I’m contemptuous of most religious values. You’ll be surprised to notice how ignorant some people indeed are. Most people do not recognize the difference between a sinner and a bad person. Not because they are any less smarter than we atheist are, they just aren’t willing to think, to question their beliefs. It is not immoral to not believe. Morality doesn’t come from religion.
Remember this, religion has only been around for the last couple of thousand years. Where were these moral codes before religion was established? Hundreds and thousands of years we had to evolve from call signs, to symbols, sounds, primitive language, and step by step our communication was evolved. Why did god have to wait for all those years until language, writing, and technology developed? What language did god speak with Adam and Eve ? If Adam and Eve used language, we didn’t have to have these minute steps of evolution in language. If there were a god, why so many books written in ink ? Why not the infinitely powerful god communicate via thought messages ? Why is “Faith” a requirement ? How does that make you a moral person worthy of eternal heaven, and we atheists worthy of eternal torment ?
